Its my first music video EVER! I’m still so proud of it! With a tiny budget and a song Padraic and Caleb made this happen. I will forever be grateful. get the album
Its no secret that I’m excited (and frightened by) the upcoming album launch. A few days ago we launched the pre-order competition; pre-order Invincible Summer and you could win and performance by me and my band (anywhere in SA). If you’re outside of the country and are bummed about not winning a performance… Sorry. But you DO get a limited edition Invincible Summer T-shirt when you pre-order the album (YAY!!)
Since the day we announced the campaign, I felt the doubt start to creep in. You know the usual B.S that goes through your mind when you are doing something that REALLY matters to you. Today my manager lady told me that we have EXACTLY 76 PRE-ORDERS OF THE ALBUM! 76!
To some, this may seem like nothing. But to someone like me. Who has no label, no budget, just a dream, my talent, my Manger Lady and a good attitude (mostly). This is a BIG DEAL! It means that out there somewhere there are 76 people who really like my music and believe that the album is worth ordering. I am SO HAPPY! So happy that 76 people took time out of their busy lives and actually PRE-ORDERED MY ALBUM!
Thank you. Thank you. THANK YOU! Please keep spreading the word and don’t ever stop being so amazing.
Grateful & ecstatic Porcelain
This week we hosted another one of the Serenades. It was at Seventeen (SA) and it was also their 6th birthday. I added ‘Happy Birthday’ to the set list
I don;t need to tell you how happy performing makes me. This week has left me feeling grateful and excited about the album launch. Its been almost 2 and a half years (on and off) and now I am doing all the things that we (Marcee and I) have been planning for months.
The response to the new single (Hot Pink) has been so overwhelming. I wrote that song when I was feeling low and I thought people might not get where I was coming from. When I sing it and I see that people can relate, I feel not-so-alone.
Every time I do one of these serenades, I thank the people who allow me and my team into their working space. They honestly don’t know what to expect and they are always so awesome. Thank you Team Seventeen!
Friday night was spent drinking LOTS of wine at a friends house, sitting around a fire.
Once I got home, I got back into bed and DIED. The only reason I got out of bed, showered and wore ‘fresh’ clothes is because we had to go to the launch of wine whiskers. We won prizes (wine he he he). Had lotsa fun with friends. I didn’t take any pics at the event because I feel weird asking people to stop telling awesome stories and pose for the camera. Nobody wants to be that person. Don’t be that person
I’ve always wanted red lipstick and I have been struggling to get the perfect shade of red. Today while Marcee was getting some lip balm from Mac, I started looking for the ‘perfect red’. Sadly I didn’t find one, but I did find lip liner that I could use as an alternative. Its bold and it doesn’t clash with my skin tone. Her are pics of Marcee (my best friend and manager lady) posing at home.
SO happy with the Perfect Red. Watch out folks, I will be pouting all day tomorrow
Two weeks ago while I was on twitter I came across a tweet asking for a singer to perform at a matric ball. I found out more about it and as it turns out, it was a ball for the Athlone School for the Blind and Disabled. Their very first matric ball. The person organising this, read about it on freecycle, org; Wanted: Matric Ball for Blind and Disable Learners. She immediately sprung into action. Withing 12 hours she was getting donations and food sponsours.
This awesome person is @heikebru and I didn’t know anything about her, but I wanted to get involved. So last week on Friday (28 August) I performed at the matric ball and had an awesome time. At the end of the night I was so moved by the work of one woman who decided to respond to a post. As soon as she made the decision to help, she attracted people who also wanted to make a difference. Most times I read about how awful things are in South Africa, but people like Heike (and everyone who came on board) make me think that its not all so bad. I fell asleep with a smile on my face thinking about how happy those grd 12 learners were.
The theme was ‘A Night at the Oscars’. I thought I had better get dressed up, so I put on my Lazuli dress and pretended I was really going to the Oscars
When you feel like its all falling apart, make a difference and you’ll see that its not so bad after all.
Yesterday I debuted my new single (Hot Pink) at Boom fm HQ. It was part of their ‘On the deck’ series. We started off with an interview; we discussed why I chose to go the D.I.Y way and what some of the pros and cons are. I also performed acoustic version of Butterflies and Today is the Day.
I LOVE performing and what made this performance so awesome is that it was on the roof top/deck thing (yes, I’m very bright). With the backdrop of table mountain and red wine (thanks Ruth) I was in heaven. It was so awesome to hang out with the Boom fm crew
