I always used to let my fear of failing stop me from completing creative projects. It may be one of the reasons why this album took almost 2 years to ‘make’.

Everything she said is everything that I believe. She is beautiful and just… Well you know how it goes when you ‘discover’ a like-minded woman. She is talented, smart and speaks a bunch of languages. Yes. A bunch. I’m going to go and stalk her and her works for a while.

A few weeks ago while I was filling up (my car) I saw a man with a beard. He was so HOT I immediately tweeted that I would kiss him AND his beard. I can’t say that I was a beard girl before… But I think I am becoming one. Thanks to the tumblr Bearded and Black I can (safely) look at some hotties with beards. This is a safe space, so no judgement!
I visited the blog today and saw the most talented and good looking Yasiin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def)
This made me find one my MOST favourite-est songs by this dude, check out the video below.
BOP TV used to play music videos late at night and I used to stay up on a Friday or Saturday night to see this one.
Once again there I was surfing the net, when I came across this lovely post over at Spillly’s place. Everytime I move I realise just how much ‘stuff’ I have. Spillly (yes, with 3 ls) has come up with an awesome way to get rid of clutter and stay grateful for everything you have.

To call myself a fan of Billie Holiday, would not be enough. I’m a lover of both Billie and her music. I remember when I heard her for the first time, I wasn’t quite sure what to make of the ‘raw’. I didn’t know whether I was supposed to observe it (from a distance) or question if it had been there forever.
I could listen to Billie all day, wake up the next day and do it again. I love what she says at the beginning of the video about never singing a song the same. The music is such a big part of her that she cannot separate herself from it. God Bless Miss Holiday.

Two weeks ago while I was on twitter I came across a tweet asking for a singer to perform at a matric ball. I found out more about it and as it turns out, it was a ball for the Athlone School for the Blind and Disabled. Their very first matric ball. The person organising this, read about it on freecycle, org; Wanted: Matric Ball for Blind and Disable Learners. She immediately sprung into action. Withing 12 hours she was getting donations and food sponsours.
This awesome person is @heikebru and I didn’t know anything about her, but I wanted to get involved. So last week on Friday (28 August) I performed at the matric ball and had an awesome time. At the end of the night I was so moved by the work of one woman who decided to respond to a post. As soon as she made the decision to help, she attracted people who also wanted to make a difference. Most times I read about how awful things are in South Africa, but people like Heike (and everyone who came on board) make me think that its not all so bad. I fell asleep with a smile on my face thinking about how happy those grd 12 learners were.
The theme was ‘A Night at the Oscars’. I thought I had better get dressed up, so I put on my Lazuli dress and pretended I was really going to the Oscars
When you feel like its all falling apart, make a difference and you’ll see that its not so bad after all.
